Taste: Candy Corn, Cream, and Baking Spices

Impression: The finish on this Masterson's rye is excellent. The palate is sweet and becomes even sweeter with the addition of water. We would recommend this rye to any bourbon drinker that thinks that rye whiskey is too much burn....making Masterson's 10 year straight rye whiskey a gateway rye. We have never tasted a straight rye this sweet. We admit that the palate is not very complex, but that does not distract from the fact that this is a very enjoyable rye whiskey.
