Impression: You cannot go wrong with the Old Rip Van Winkle...if you can find it. We noticed that after the movie Internship came out, that finding anything associated with Pappy is almost like finding hens teeth. You used to be able to find Pappy on the shelf all the time but now with its cult like following it is almost impossible. Talk to your local whiskey purveyor and be a consistent and loyal customer. When the the blue moon rises from horizon he may set a bottle aside for you.
5 Cheese Lasagna
5 cheese lasagna: in sauce pan sautee 3 minced shallots in 3 tbsp butter and one minced garlic for 1-2 minutes. Then add 1/3 cup flour and cook 2 minutes. Whisk in 2.5 cups whole milk and 1.5 cups chicken stock and add pinch salt and pinch cayenne and one bay leaf and simmer for 10 minutes. In a mixing bowl combine shredded gruyere 6 ounces and one ounce of shredded Parmesan. Pour in all of the sauce into this cheese mixture but reserve 1/4 cup of the sauce to add to a ricotta mixture. In separate mixing bowl add this 1/4 cup of the white sauce, 2 cups ricotta, 1/2 cup chopped parsley, 1 tbsp black pepper and one whole egg. Create 15 strips of fresh homemade pasta. In a glass Pyrex lasagna dish add 1 cup of the gruyere white sauce mixture to the bottom then line with pasta sheets. Cover with 1 cup of the ricotta mixture followed by 1 tbsp Gorgonzola and 1/2 cup shredded fontina cheese then 1 cup white gruyere sauce. Keep layering pasta and Sauce then when get to the last layer cover the pasta completely with the white gruyere sauce and sprinkle with 1/2 cup Parmesan and cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350 middle rack then uncover and broil for 5 minutes .
