Van Winkle Special Reserve
Tasting Notes
Aged 12 years
Lot "B"
90.4 Proof
Color: Tawney
Nose: Toasted Nuts, Caramel, Oak, and Spice
Taste: Toffee on the front of the palate followed by leather on the mid palate that is quickly followed by cloves
Body: Medium
Finish: The finish is a classic bourbon finish with just the right amount of burn that quickly fades to a clean palate
Personality: Jon Hamm
Impression: The nose is a bit disappointing, but the palate makes up for the olfactory shortcomings. There is a lot of hype that surrounds the entire Van Winkle line. It's a good bourbon, but hard to acquire and out of the reach of the average bourbon drinker. It will definitely impress your family and friends on Christmas or Hanukkah, but so will Blanton's.
